Paralegal (Columbia, SC)
Paralegal – Employment Law. The position is with a well-established Regional Law Firm with competitive pay and generous benefit package.
Education and Experience:
- A qualified applicant must have experience working as a Paralegal in an employment law environment.
- Four-year degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and be highly organized and motivated.
- Excellent computer skills required, including MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Must be able to work with multiple attorneys, handle a large workload and enjoy working on site in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Experience handling federal and state litigation of employment law claims.
- Knowledgeable and able to navigate and conduct research on PACER.
- Conduct legal research on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Prepare, draft, and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, responses, motions, and settlement agreements.
- Handle case management, including maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, and organizing discovery materials.
- Experienced with EEOC, S.C. Human Affairs Commission, and other employment related administrative proceedings and the deadlines associated with the same.
- Coordinate and manage client communication, including scheduling interviews and client meetings.
- Perform factual investigations by gathering and reviewing records, documents, and evidence related to employment law claims.
- Prepare trial and deposition binders, and assist in trial preparation, including exhibit organization and witness coordination.
- Summarize deposition transcripts, medical records, and other documents relevant to cases.
- File documents with the court and manage electronic filing processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive case information.
